Publishing, Branding, and Reader Engagement: Our work typically starts with a plan, or mission. Our experience includes defining the editorial mission of magazines, newsletters, and other periodicals. The mission always aligns with the needs of the readers. In some cases, the mission combines the needs of the readers and the content sponsors. For example, Entertainment Engineering magazine covered engineering technologies used to create movies and films, theme park rides, sporting events, concerts, theatre, and other fun applications of technologies that interest our readers (e.g. Imagineers). Content sponsors and manufacturers of the engineering technologies also benefit from having their product shown in the context of fun and cool applications, which engage readers through their hearts as well as their technical minds. Refining the plan and expanding the mission of Entertainment Engineering to include the concept of technology transfer subsequently helped built the opt-in readership to 38,000 subscribers, most of whom were from other major industries outside entertainment (e.g. medical, automotive, aerospace). Job one is getting the attention of readers, which means making content interesting on multiple levels.

Reporting and Technical Writing - Our skill sets include interviewing technicians and engineers, then carefully combining their input to achieve collective agreement and approval of written text among the diverse groups. Design engineers, R&D techs, Quality managers, production engineers, and other technical experts can sometimes look at the same product with different perspectives, concerns, and priorities. Because we understand different job functions, and have experience working with many types of technologies in many diverse industries, we are often better able to gain consensus among content stakeholders. We’ve written about cybersecurity, IoT, additive manufacturing, hydraulics, electronics, software, instruments, controls, fracking technology, artificial intelligence, and other technologies used in military aircraft, medical equipment, oil rigs, construction,

mining, automotive, consumer electronics, and many other industries. We captured best practices for technical communication in a book. Currently posting the book, chapter by chapter, on LinkedIn to obtain addition input and best practices from other people to grow scope and usefulness of book.

Media Relations – Because we have previously worked as editors and publishers for other companies, we understand objectives and goals of our editorial and publishing colleagues. We speak their language. And we are able to leverage our backgrounds to write and get published a variety of editorial items in magazines and websites appropriate for our clients.

Website Development – We use Wordpress and other content management software to create dynamic web pages and content. With coding know-how, we are also able to maximize SEO and link strategies to generate views, downloads, sales leads, and conversions among target audiences.

Data Analytics – Creating the content and building the websites are important, but the job doesn’t end there for our clients. We monitor and interpret Google Analytics to track website and Adwords activity, organic and paid. With multiple analytic tools, we identify what is working and develop reader/customer insights. Then we act on those insights to improve return on client investments.

Video – For one client, we developed a written story about how their technology enabled an unusual stage for Cirque du Soleil’s theatre production “KA” in Las Vegas, NV. We got a behind-the-scenes tour of the show, which allowed us to obtain video footage. With permission from the show producers, we used the written story and the footage to produce a video. The video produced thousands of downloads on the Entertainment Engineering website. The client also distributed the video to their customers, producing even more downloads.

Advertising – Using data analytics and artificial intelligence, we create and implement search engine and other ad campaigns, which drive customers to websites from targeted countries around the world.  are designed to take readers directly to specific pages on website designed to engage readers and covert them to customers.

Customer Relationship Management – We conduct research among customers for the purposes of gauging their satisfaction and understanding how to meet their goals and expectations. For example, we regularly survey customers in U.S. Air Force, U.S Navy, U.S. Army, U.S. Border Patrol and Department of Homeland Security, and broader defense industry. We identify needs, monitor key performance indicators, and diagnose problem areas that need attention. We issue reports on our findings. Recommend new strategies, services, and capabilities to support them.

Sales & Sales Support – We are editors and marketers, but we have also been salespeople. So we understand the sales functions, and more importantly, how marketing, pr, and well-crafted content helps gain customer trust and sell product, services, and customer loyalty. Our sales experience includes selling advertising as well as goods and services purchased by the defense industry.
